We are happy to welcome Dr. Herman to the SSDP practice! With both an MD and Ph.D., Dr. Herman has a strong interest in the latest dermatology research and incorporating it into his patient care.

Dr. Herman grew up in California and attended UCLA as an undergrad, then received his MD and Ph.D. in Immunobiology from Yale University School of Medicine. During his postgraduate studies, he researched how the immune system regulates inflammation in the skin. His work was published in peer-reviewed academic journals and he was awarded the Selma and Karl Folkers Prize in Biomedical Research.

He completed his internship year at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and his dermatology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. While in Pittsburgh, he volunteered at a resident-run clinic for underserved patients, providing free dermatology care.

Dr. Herman shared that, “The SSDP physicians are amazing—extremely smart, diligent, and friendly. I come from an academic background, as do many of the doctors here, so we are aligned with making decisions for our patients based on science and the latest research. I’m very excited to join a community-based practice where I can be a doctor for people I know in the area and have lasting relationships with my patients.”

Dr. Viraj Shroff-Mehta commented that, “We are thrilled that Dr. Herman is joining our practice. We were impressed with his credentials immediately, and even more impressed with his work ethic and commitment to providing exceptional care to his patients. He’s a great addition to our group of board-certified dermatologists.”

New to the area, Dr. Herman enjoys spending time with his four-year-old son, taking walks, visiting parks, and exploring Boston as it reopens. He is expecting a new baby later this summer. He also has a Pomeranian who joins in on some of their excursions. His hobbies include watching classic movies and cooking.

Please contact SSDP to schedule an appointment with Dr. Herman or any of our physicians.
