Tarana Mohammadi, MD, is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in brain, behavior and cognitive science. Following acceptance into the Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Mohammadi worked as a research assistant at Detroit Medical Center and later, as a dermatopathology research assistant at the Pinkus Dermatopathology Laboratory in Monroe, Michigan. Inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society during medical school, Dr. Mohammadi completed a transitional year internship at Beaumont Hospital (formerly Oakwood Hospital) in Dearborn before enrolling in a three-year dermatology residency at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. For two years, she also provided dermatology care to detainees at the Cook County Department of Corrections as a moonlighting physician.
Dr. Mohammadi has made numerous professional presentations to dermatologists and others, and has co-authored research papers in the journals, Biomarkers in Cancer, and American Journal of Infection Control.
Dr. Mohammadi was drawn to dermatology’s union of “surgical skills, visual diagnosis and artistry.” She looks forward to practicing medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology at SSDP and to building long-term relationships with her patients.
Board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, she is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Staff privileges are pending at the Good Samaritan Medical Center.
