Dr. Lindsay Eminger of SSDP was one of three lead authors of a study published in the September 2016 issue of The Journal of Dermatologic Surgery.
Titled, The Accuracy of Self-Reported Skin Cancer Diagnosis: Room for Improvement, the study examined the accuracy of patient-reported skin cancer diagnoses versus the patients' real clinical diagnoses. It found that a "significant number of patients," (19%), could not accurately recall their skin cancer diagnosis when calling to schedule surgical treatment of their condition.
The findings were based on a study of 302 patients with 317 skin cancers by Drs. Eminger, Lacy L. Sommer and Naomi Lawrence.
Board certified in both dermatology and dermatopathology, Dr. Eminger is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology. She has been on the SSDP staff since the fall of 2014.
